Production of High-Strength Coke from Formed Coal Containing Low-Quality Coal by Pressurized Carbonization

We studied the pressurized carbonization conditions that can produce high-strength coke at low temperature (800°C) from formed coals containing a large amount of non-caking or slightly-caking coal. It was found as rapid heating range (room → 450–600°C) increased, adherence between coal particles increased and strength increased. The effect rate (10–40°C/min) became significant when exceeded 500°C, with increasing rate. also pressure, optimal pressure under present 1 MPa.
